Handmade Wedding Memories

Today is my 2 year wedding anniversary and since this blog is relatively new and I haven’t shared these images here yet, I thought, why not take a little trip down memory lane

My husband and I met on July 4th, 2008 on a sailing daytrip in San Diego. We were lucky enough to have a photo of us taken on that very day. I love how it appears as though we’re already together but we’re not…quite yet. What a memorable day it was, even with all the margaritas!

We were inseparable after that day and were married 3 years later, on July 3rd, 2011. I love how our wedding preserved our original anniversary and the day we met, how it’s always a fun festive time of year (with fireworks!) and how we always have some extra time off work.

The Day We Met

Of course, there had to be handmade fabric details on our big day! I made these fabric envelopes for all of the wedding invitations. They’re a simple depiction of the theater and the Two Tree’s landmark in Ventura, CA where we were married.

With help from friends, I made a rainbow of fabric flowers that were sprinkled around the tables and lace sailboat centerpieces to represent that 1st day we spent together.

The bouqets and boutonnière were also handmade with fabrics in a different style. I have mine in a vase and still absolutely love seeing them every day. One of these days I’d love to experiment with more fabric flowers, they were a lot of fun to make!

And here we are after all the planning and making, after the ceremony was over as our new lives began. I love the flag in this photo! We’re right outside the restaurant where we had our rehearsal dinner, and where we’re headed tonight to celebrate

I love him SO much and am grateful everyday to have met him. Our lives just keep getting better and better, and he’s such a huge reason I’ve made so much progress with my art. He really is my biggest fan! I’m one lucky girl 🙂
